Inside the home
Penman Manor is a converted 19th-century textile mill on the Nith River in Paris, Ontario. The building has 20 units across four floors, which keeps the feel small and quiet. This unit sits inside the historic brick shell but has been fully renovated — the kitchen alone is worth seeing, with flat-front grey cabinetry to the ceiling, quartz counters, a full-height slab backsplash, and new stainless appliances. The loft-style interior keeps the exposed spiral ductwork and high ceilings that come with a heritage conversion. Nine windows face north and west toward the river and millpond. The hallway has custom built-in shelving, and floors are hardwood through the main living areas. At 825 square feet with one bathroom, the layout is compact. The second room works as a den or small office more than a true bedroom. Barker's Bush trails and downtown Paris are both within a short walk.
